The Pink Ribbon Foundation is delighted to announce the launch of the BOLD photo book in collaboration with Caroline Sikkenk, photographer and Founder of the project.

For most women, losing their hair can be a very upsetting experience.

Once the hair is gone, a different kind of beauty emerges.

Other features draw our attention; delicately or strongly outlined cheekbones, cheerful freckles, the shape of the lips, a certain sparkle in the eyes.

The hair no longer detracts our attention from the pure beauty of a face.

Faces that in the absence of the framework normally provided by hair, radiate strength, emotion, and femininity.

It takes courage to let others see you without your hair. Not only are these women ‘bald,’ they are above all ‘BOLD’: strong and courageous.

Caroline’s BOLD photo project highlights the beauty of women of all ages who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy, intensive radiation treatment or the autoimmune disease alopecia and includes women from all around the world.

In February 2024 the Pink Ribbon Foundation placed the inspiring images of 13 women in the UK who had been affected by breast cancer and hair loss, on the iconic Piccadilly Lights, London and the Midtown board in Times Square, New York simultaneously to coincide with World Cancer Day.

In March/April 2024, the Pink Ribbon Foundation were invited by The Sidings, Waterloo to exhibit the BOLD collection, to allow members of the public to see these stunning portraits, learn more about the charity and pick up important information about being breast aware.

Now, to further highlight the beauty, strength, and resilience in being BALD, a new, high quality table top photo book has been published to celebrate the many women (along with their friends and family) who have taken part in the BOLD project and been photographed by Caroline.  The A4 book features stunning images across 192 pages and is, in itself, a work of ART.

Copies can be pre ordered now at £30 each plus £8 postage and packaging (UK only), with 100% profits supporting the vital work of the charity.
