With just weeks to go until the Pink Ribbon Foundation's Camino Walk for Life, preparations are well underway as the team gets ready to walk 125km across northern Spain in support of people affected by breast cancer.
For Lisa Allen, who leads the Foundation's fundraising and partnership activity, training isn't just about putting in the miles. Alongside regular walks, she's incorporated rebounding into her routine thanks to the Foundation's partnership with Rebound Fitness.
Using the Just Bounce Bungee Rebounder, Lisa has found rebounding to be an enjoyable, low-impact way to improve strength, balance and stamina – all essential when preparing for six consecutive days of walking on the Camino de Santiago.
"It's a fantastic way to complement my walking training," Lisa explains. "It's gentle on the joints, incredibly easy to fit into a busy day, and it's actually great fun. Every session feels like another step towards Santiago."
As well as the physical benefits, rebounding is widely recognised for helping to stimulate the lymphatic system. The gentle up-and-down movement encourages the natural movement of lymph fluid around the body, supporting the body's waste removal processes. For many people living with or recovering from breast cancer, maintaining healthy lymphatic function is an important part of overall wellbeing, making rebounding an increasingly popular form of exercise.
The partnership between Pink Ribbon Foundation and Rebound Fitness also offers supporters the opportunity to benefit while giving back. By using the code PINKRIBBON at checkout, customers receive 10% off their order, while Rebound Fitness donates an additional 10% of the purchase value to the Pink Ribbon Foundation to help fund projects supporting people affected by breast cancer across the UK. Over the coming weeks, Lisa will continue sharing her Camino training journey as the team counts down to setting off on this extraordinary challenge. Every step taken and every pound raised will help the Foundation continue supporting the smaller breast cancer charities providing vital services across the UK.
