Secondary Breast Cancer Awareness Day

Today is Secondary Breast Cancer Awareness Day (also known as Stage IV, advanced, incurable or metastatic breast cancer). Secondary Breast Cancer is the most serious form of Breast Cancer but is the least talked about. It is when the cancer has spread to other parts of the body, for example the bones, lungs, liver or brain.

Unfortunately, Secondary Breast Cancer cannot be cured, however there is hope, with research and treatments advancing all the time. Many people with secondary breast cancer can live longer, fulfilling lives while managing the disease. Medical research is vital for secondary breast cancer patients, to give them access to more life-saving treatments and stop the 31 people a day dying from the disease. Awareness is also important so that they get the care and support they need while living with and managing the disease. Today is an incredibly important part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
